The Dentist

So Naomi went to see the dentist yesterday for the first time. (Yes we are a little bit late, however when you don't have extended dental coverage it is quite expensive). Anyway, so turns out I maybe should have brought her earlier. She has 4 cavities! The dentist actually told me by the look of her oral health he is surprised to see that she has cavities at all! However she has deep pits in her molars and this is where all the cavities are. On the top of her molars, not in between the teeth. Does this make me feel better that he says she has good oral hygene and that she must be just inclined to get cavities? Maybe a little, but the fact is she still has to get 4 teeth filled! He will do it in 2 appts because he doesn't think she could stay still for more than 30 mins at a time. Poor girl. She seems okay with it now. We'll see once she gets the first ones done how willing she is to get the other ones done on the next appt. He also says she has a "cross-bite" and that in a couple of years we may be looking at an appliance to help straighten that out! Kevin's been doing some work in her mouth and body work and her cross-bite is already starting to correct itself (it's great to be married to him!). Kevin's going to keep working on it everyday and then when I go into the dentist next week I'm going to ask him to check her crossbite again to see if he notices a difference. I'm sure he will because I could actually see that the top teeth were moved this morning after just one treatment!

Wake up call

Yesterday Naomi and Amelia asked to play with some wicker baskets so they could collect things. They played for hours with these baskets and used so much imagination with them. It was really neat to see all the different "things" that the baskets became and carried. So last night at bedtime they had to place their baskets beside their beds so that they could have them when they first woke up.
This is what woke us up at 6:45 this morning....

She dressed herself all up before leaving her bedroom. Put her puppy and her flowers in her basket, and now has been playing like this all morning.

He's WALKING!

So Elliott took his first steps yesterday. He seems really determined to walk, so I'm sure it won't be long before he's running!

I finally caught him on video this morning. The first one is sideways and I can't figure out how to rotate it, and the second one is the right way, but it's not as good! Tracey, if you know how to rotate the videos, can you let me know?

Soccer

Mom: Naomi you're first soccer game is tonight. Are you excited?
Naomi: I'm so excited. I think I'll even get a GOAL-IN-ONE!

She has had about 6 games so far and seems to really enjoy it. She even got a goal at her last game... unfortunately it was in her own net, but that doesn't really matter right?!? She's having fun.

Amelia

I just found this picture on my camera. Amelia had dressed herself this day and started helping me with housework. I couldn't let the photo opportunity pass! She's hilarious.

Amelia's Birthday

Amelia turned 3 on Saturday and we had a few friends over for her BBQ party. It was such a beautiful day. She was pretty impressed with her Cinderella Birthday cake!

Elliott was a pretty happy boy on the bouncer.

Wearing her birthday sunglasses...with her ever so charming pout on!

Naomi thinks it was pretty good party!

Funny Amelia!

So the other night we were all sitting at the table and Kevin was using the word "snappy" to describe the texture of the Quinoa that I had made ("This quinoa salad is really snappy"). I didn't feel that was the best description of the texture, so I used the word "pop-y" ("no, the quinoa is really pop-y"). So he looks at me and makes a face and said he was going to get the THESAURUS to see if snappy and pop-y even mean the same thing.... SO Amelia belts out at the top of her lungs

"I want to go see the 'THE-SAURUS' too!"

(she thought he was going to get a dinosaur called a "The-saurus"). We've recently been to the dinosaur museum in Drumheller and they have talked about going back non-stop since we've been home.

Anyway, made us all laugh pretty hard!
